| 内容記述 | 初期キリスト教は、周辺世界を構成する異邦人世界やユダヤ人世界と真理についての論争を繰り返しながら、新しい真理認を形成して行った。初代教会の宣教は、真の神は唯一であり（I コリ8:6; I テサ1:9）、天地を創られた神だけが神であるという一神教的世界観を真理とし、人間や動物を模した神々の像を拝む異邦人世界の宗教観を誤りとしている（ロマ1:18-32）。キリスト教内部の福音理解を巡る論争は真理論の性格を持っていた。律法と福音を連続的に考えるユダヤ的な福音理解に対して、パウロは律法からの自由を「福音の真理」と呼び（ガラ2:5, 14）、その根拠を自らに示された神の召しと啓示に求めた（1:1, 15-16）。信仰義認の教理の真理性については、旧約聖書を引用して聖書証明を試みている（ロマ1:16-17; 4:1-25;ガラ3:6-29 他）。 ヨハネ福音書において、神の子イエスは恵みと真理の啓示者であるが（ヨハ1:14, 17）。弟子たちに与えた別れの説教においてキリストは自らが、「道であり、真理であり、命である」ことを明らかにしている（14:5-6）。真理を体現するイエスの言葉を信じ、そのもとに留まる者は、イエスの弟子として真理を知り自由を得ることとなるが（8:31-32）、信じない者は虚偽の内に留まり続け、罪のうちに死ぬこととなる（8:24）。 Early Christianity formed its understanding of the truth in the context of the disputes with the surrounding world consisting of Jews and Gentiles. The proclamation of the early church declared the monotheistic truth of the Creator over against the polytheistic religions of the Gentile world (Romans 1:18-32). According to Early Christian belief, God is one and there exists no other god (1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 Thessalonians 1:9). The disputes concerning the tr uth among the early Christians were caused by the dif ferent understandings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul called the freedom from the Law the truth of the gospel (Galatians 2:5, 14), while Jewish Christian opponents found a continuity between Law and gospel. He tried to prove the truth of his understanding by citing relevant Old Testament texts (Romans 1:16-17; 4:1-25; Galatians 3:6-29 etc.). In the Gospel of John, Jesus, the Son of God, is depicted as the revealer of divine grace and truth (John 1:14, 17). In his farewell speech given to his disciples, Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:5-6). Those who believe his words and stay in them will attain truth and freedom (8:31-32), while those who do not believe will continue to stay in falsehood and die in sin (8:24). |
